What’s for Lunch?

Kurazushi くら寿司, Shinagawa

Yuki found this kaitenzushi place near Shinagawa Intercity called Kurazushi and all plates cost 105 yen. They have a pretty decent selection for the price. It’s very family friendly there, with large booth tables and bar type seating all along the conveyor belt. Apart from the typical selection of raw fish they also [...]

Cute Macaroni

This Hello Kitty macaroni is great. When I’m too tired to really prepare lunch or even dinner. I just boil these for around 8-9 minutes and after draining, I add some cheese, butter, milk, and whatever veggies we have in the freezer. And the kids always seem to be excited over the “special” Kitty mac [...]

What’s for Lunch?

Akasaka Fukineki 赤坂ふきねき, Tameikesanno, Minato-ku
We met Koichi for lunch and went to Akasaka Fukineki. He introduced hitsumabushi. It looks like unadon (grilled eel over rice) but it’s different because it is eaten in 3 steps so that you can enjoy unagi in 3 different tastes.

The first step is to take some rice and unagi [...]

What’s for Lunch?

Gallery ef Cafe, Asakusa
Joy, the kids and I enjoyed a relaxing brunch at Gallry ef Cafe before sightseeing around Asakusa. We had the croque madame and pizza with chicken and asparagus, with a soup and salad.

Joy and Keiji had some quality getting-to-know-each-other time while Arisa napped peacefully.

What’s for Lunch?

Indian lunch buffet, Asakusa
We went to a small Indian restaurant off of Kaminarimon. (I forgot the name, but hopefully Milie remembers and will post a comment on it). The lunch buffet for 880 yen is a really good deal. Unfortunately we failed to notice (because we cannot read) that kids, even from the age of [...]

Happy Birthday Hina!

Hina just turned 3 years old! She had a lovely barbecue party at Shiokaze Park 潮風公園 in Odaiba, which has a really nice barbecue spot underneath rows of trees.   There’s also a great water fountain area just a few feet away where kids can splash around and a playground set up as a wooden ship. [...]

Happy Birthday Wes!

Wes turned 2! And Ema’s Daddy turned a year older as well! So there was a joint birthday barbecue party in Kashiwa to celebrate. It was a fun gathering in full summer style. On the grill was a very flavorful mix of torinegi yakitori, Croatian sausages, corn on the cob, sweet potatoes, and peppers. And [...]

Toddler Snacks

I discovered this Ginbis edamame snack for kids from my friend but I never could find them at the grocery stores by my place.

What’s for Lunch?

Look at this monstrous pizza. It’s the new Double Roll pizza from Pizza Hut. I saw the commercial for it on tv and just had to try it. It’s got half sausage-stuffed crust, and half cheese-stuffed crust. Half of it is the Hamburg Pizza, with mini hamburger patties, corn, and tomatoes and the other half [...]

Shinagawa for Kids

Although Shinagawa is another pretty businessmen-y area in Tokyo, there are a few things to do there that’s fun for kids. Apart from the Epson Aquarium, the Shinagawa Aquarium and viewing the shinkansen at JR Shinagawa station, older kids might enjoy going to the Shinagawa Bowling Center, inside Prince Hotel and there are also [...]
