Keiji’s observations one day as we were traveling on our way home at around 5:30pm:
We entered a train and I see a seat so I tell Keiji to grab it. It wasn’t terribly crowded but people were still rushing to claim a seat. As Keiji arrived at the free seat, a woman stepped in front of it at about the same time and so there was a little show-down for it. They both stood there and Keiji looked rather surprised that she was glaring at him and not budging away from that seat. She wasn’t an elderly or disabled woman who needed to sit. She was just a sad but pretty typical example of how people are just out for themselves.
As Keiji stood by the door he said, “Look mommy, why is everyone not happy?”. Then he continues, realizing the answer his own question and says, “Ohhh..maybe they’re all just tired.”

ahhh brilliant! a touching post, especially since knowing lil keiji so well i visualize it so clearly..
this is why that age is truly precious to me: no malice, cynicism, distrust.. or maybe lil keiji is just a gentler heart
im also always surprised when toddlers show depth in conceptual understanding or reasoning- i guess i underestimate kids too much..
