World Travel Fair

Tokyo Big Sight, Ariake, Koto-ku

Irena was working at one of the exhibition booths during this year’s 2007 JATA World Travel Fair. It was really interesting to see the booths of various countries. Each booth had brochures and giveaways to promote tourism in their country.

I worried that the kids would be bored at a convention. But the kids enjoyed since there were various activities. We saw Hawaiian dancers, a samba band accompanied by dancers dressed in carnivale outfits, African tribal drummers, and many other small performances. We walked out of there with bagfuls of stuff – mostly nice books on various countries(some were in English although most were in Japanese) but also things like magnets, pins, notebooks, key chains, little dolls, tote bags and caps. One service the convention offered upon entering, was a numbered sticker tag for your child to wear. The administrators kept the corresponding sticker, which includes your name and cell so in the event you and your child are separated, they will call you directly. Since it is very crowded and easy to lose track of a fast walker, its a pretty helpful service. Fortunately we didn’t need to use it!
