Yoyogi Kouen 代々木公園, Shibuya-ku 渋谷区
Yoyogi Park is well-known for its Sundays – bands play live on the sidewalk alongside the park within a few feet away from each other, gothic lolita kids hang out just to have their photos taken, skaters practice their ollies, random “performers” perform. But on weekdays it’s much calmer and seems completely transformed into a green oasis in Tokyo. So far, this is still my favorite park to go to because it has a varied landscape (huge trees, wide grassy lawns, little ponds and bridges, slopes, fountains, intimate trails), a diverse crowd (families, musicians, artists, teenagers, some weirdos) and it helps that it’s easily accessible by train. I haven’t found a playground area in the park yet, but even so K & A always enjoy it there just exploring nature.
