Japanese Vegetarian Meal at Tan-Etsu, Tokyo Midtown
Grandma and Obaa-chan are both in town , which means we get to eat out somewhere special! We ate at Tan-Etsu in Tokyo Midtown. I tried the Shojin Bento and it was the best vegetarian meal I’ve ever had, even though I’m far from being vegetarian. Everything had such a delicate taste while being very flavorful. The vegetables seem so simple but they are cooked in a way that their natural flavors are enhanced rather than hidden with overpowering sauces. Since it is all made fresh it’s a very healthy option for kids. The lunch set we had comes with soup and rice with soy beans (and you can have an extra bowl of rice at no extra charge). Served with lunch is tea made from the tofu water. The presentation is beautiful. We went there early and we were able to avoid the long wait and also get a private room.
