May 5th is a National Holiday in Japan called Tango no Sekku (Boys’ Day), but now known as Children’s Day.
Families with boys celebrate this day to promote their healthy growth. Carp streamers are hung and small samurai helmet, swords and armor are displayed. We had a small lunch party at home to celebrate.
