Golden Week started yesterday. I always knew Golden Week in Japan is a week of holidays, but I never really knew exactly what. So I finally Google it to find out more. Since we live here now I think really should know the national holidays. And now I know that during Golden Week there are 4 national holidays: April 29th Showa Day (Showa no hi諸和の日), May 3rd Constitution Day (Kenpo kinenbi憲法), May 4th Greenery Day (Midori no hiみどりの日), May 5th Children’s Day (Kodomo no hi). A lot of people just end up taking the whole week off. Here is Wikipedia’s explanation of Golden Week. No holiday for my husband unfortunately. Although in Japan, I find it better to just take a day off when it’s not a national holiday because every place is too crowded during a holiday.
This picture has nothing to do with Golden Week but we passed by this bunch of black and white Doraemon dolls today and couldn’t resist posting it up.
